Question Enquiry of the Ministry — Would the Minister of Transportation advise, before the 1970s fuel crisis Ontario's speed limit on 400-series highways was 70 miles per hour, approximately 113 kilometers per hour. Due to the fuel crisis Ontario's speed limit on 400-series highways was lowered to 60 miles per hour, approximately 100 kilometers per hour and where it has stayed since. In the nearly 40 years since these changes to Ontario's speed limit were made, passenger vehicles have only become safer and more fuel efficient. Is the Ministry of Transportation considering raising the speed limit on 400-series highways or have they considered it in the past ten years.
