The Office of the Assembly is the administrative arm of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Our mandate is to provide non-partisan support services to all Members of Provincial Parliament.
The Office of the Legislative Assembly, Precinct Properties Branch, is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed and team oriented professional to provide leadership and management to a team of four (4) tradespeople who specialize in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry. Under the supervision of the Manager of Operation and Maintenance, you will be responsible for utilizing your expertise in mechanical and electrical systems to identify and resolve day -to-day and long term challenges.
As the Technical Specialist and Trades Supervisor, you possess strong leadership skills and have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with a diverse group of internal and external contacts on a daily basis. As a part of your role, you will be responsible for developing mechanical and electrical building standards, ensuring standards address environmental and energy issues; examining existing site conditions and recommending strategies for improvement over long term phased projects; evaluating solutions to mechanical and electrical system problems; preparing technical specifications for implementation; preparing cost estimates and ensuring proposed solutions are within budget allocation; managing external consultants and unit price contracts; monitoring construction and inspection activities. In the role of Technical Specialist and Trades Supervisor you will participate in the development of the Branch budget by providing input on the annual capital plan and non-recurring program.
Candidates must possess a college diploma or trade certification after apprenticeship with a minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a heritage or historical building. You will have strong organizational skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to interact with and provide leadership to team members and external consultants. You are well versed in relevant legislation including Ontario Building Code, electrical, mechanical and fire codes, have the ability to read mechanical and electrical plans, shop drawings and diagrams and have strong documentation and report writing skills. This position requires a high level of problem solving and analytical skills, enabling you to provide expert advice regarding building systems. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft computer software applications is required while working knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset. The salary range for this position is $69,765 - $88,944 per annum.
